Veterans bring a focus on the mission, discipline and a deep sense of teamwork. These qualities translate well from military service to renewable energy construction. At Blattner, these strengths help create a shared purpose: building the country’s renewable energy infrastructure while supporting and looking out for one another every step of the way. Meet some of our veterans.
Originally from Colombia, JT moved to Florida at 18 and joined the National Guard, serving nine years as a helicopter mechanic. He’s been with Blattner for more than eight years.
The importance of good planning and adaptability was instilled into Bemidji, Minnesota native Keegen Moe when he joined the Army in 2013 at the age of 18.
“In the military, you train your people for their current role and two positions ahead so they can step into leadership if needed,” Keegen said.
Now leading warranty teams across the nation, Keegen applies that same mindset. “Training others helps us grow as a team and improve as individuals,” he said.
As a Marine sniper, Toby served around the world, including during Desert Storm, in Somalia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Haiti, and as part of a leadership exchange program with an elite U.K. Commando Unit.
“Everyone cares and wants to help. Your success is their success,” he said. “If I ask about anything, someone’s ready to teach me.
The military also taught me to manage complex operations. I apply that here, coordinating civil, electrical, installation. Everything must align to reach the goal.”
“I proudly served my country, and now I take great pride in building it,” said Nick, who joined the Navy at 17 and served in the Middle East, Guam and Virginia.
He found familiarity with Blattner’s structure after leaving the service. “Blattner is very similar to the military. We have strong leadership, and that helped me adapt,” he said, “There’s always someone I can follow to guide me in the right direction. It’s been awesome.”
Nick’s military experience shaped how he treats others in his work at Blattner. “Everyone comes from a different background. I treat everyone with dignity and respect—how I’d want to be treated.”
At Blattner, we recognize and appreciate the depth of character, experience and talent that veterans bring to our teams. Their presence strengthens our projects and inspires those around them.
Thank you to our veterans for your service and for continuing to lead by building the energy our nation needs.
